Mooney Boats Ltd Lift out the MFV St Catherine for the first time in 24 Years

On the 13TH October 2010 Mooney Boats Ltd lifted the MFV St Catherine out of the water on their 75ton travel hoist.

This is the first time the vessel which was built in the yard in 1956 was lifted out at the yard since 1986. In 1986 the late Micheal Mooney fitted a new wooden keel to the vessel.

Most of the work carried out on the vessel was carried out by James and Mickey O Gorman themselves and they just used the facility to carry out all the work. Both men commented on how handy it was to work on the vessel and not to be worrying the tides or the weather. Anything they needed for the vessel could be got in the yard or the new store and Mooney Boats Ltd. And if they needed any advise on the work to be done on the vessel they just had to call in and ask one of the staff in the yard.
